Overview
This is a practical course focused on giving you lots of hands on experience exploring the postures and practice of yin.
Whether you’re a yoga teacher, or just a passionate practitioner, this course will give you the tools you need to start practicing right away, and find more balance in your life overall.
If you are a teacher, this course is eligible for 20 hours of Continuing Education credits with the YogaAlliance®
Training is located at Bhakti Barn Yoga in Millburn NJ.

Whether you are a yoga teacher or an interested practicioner, this training is designed to give you a deep understanding of Yin Yoga and certify you to start teaching right away.
You will learn:
The history and philosophy of Yin Yoga, why we practice it, what the benefits are, and how Traditional Chinese Medicine has set the foundation for the poses we practice today.
The effects of Yin Yoga on the body through the lens of western anatomy, as well as the practices’ effect on our subtle body anatomy including the chakras and meridian systems.
The poses practiced in Yin Yoga classes, taking a deep look at each posture’s benefits, and exploring how to use props and modifications to make them accessible for all bodies.
How to skillfully sequence, and create class themes that flow smoothly and leave your students feeling balanced. We’ll also cover how to give effective yin cues that help guide your students towards comfort and deeper states of meditation.

Required book: The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga: The Philosophy and Practice of Yin Yoga by Bernie Clark. Please read chapter 1 prior to training.

Magda Usarek-Witek (she/her) is a 500-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher, Teacher Trainer, and Sound Meditation Facilitator with over 10 years of teaching experience. She is passionate about connecting with people in her community and helping people get connected to their body and mind through many methods of yoga.
She completed her 200-hr vinyasa yoga training with Bhakti Barn Yoga, 300-hour vinyasa training with Hudson Yoga Project, Yin training with Sattva Yoga, and has completed several sound healing training under the guidance of Lindsay Monal, Yoga Renew, and Joyti Healing Arts.
Magda has always believed in using yoga to support the things you love to do. Striking a balance between strength and softness, using various movement modalities to stay active, stay healthy, and move through life with ease. Whether you’re cycling, lifting, doing manual labor, or engaging in artistic pursuits like painting or pottery, yoga can help you feel more aligned, reduce the risk of injury, and bring mental clarity and calm to the hustle of daily life.
You can find her teaching weekly classes at Bhakti Barn or in Jersey City and Hoboken where she lives. She has mentored in several yoga teacher training, lead retreats, and finds passion in sharing the practice with anyone who is curious.

Lindsay Monal (she/her) is a 500-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher and Teacher Trainer, Sound Meditation Practitioner, and Usui Reiki Master passionate about helping people live more compassionate, restful, and joyful lives.
She completed the majority of her training at ISHTA Yoga, but as a life longer learner, and student of yoga, she has gone on to complete more than 100 additional hours of training in Yin Yoga, as well as certifications in Katonah Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Laughter Yoga, Sound Healing, and Yoga for Trauma, Addiction, and Mental Health.
In her sessions, Lindsay weaves gentle movement, mindfulness, and energy work into immersive sensory experiences that spark curiosity, creativity, and connection. She believes that laughter and lightness are just as essential to healing as stillness and reflection, and invites joy and a childlike sense of wonder to every session she leads.
Lindsay regularly offers classes and workshops in New Jersey and New York City, and hosts international yoga and meditation retreats throughout the year. Her greatest passion lies in empowering the next generation of facilitators through Yoga Teacher Trainings, and her online sound facilitator mentorship, Bowl Club!
She has spoken at the United Nations, guided sound meditation for thousands at Harvard University, and led corporate wellness experiences for Google, Audible, and Athleta to name a few! Lindsay sees yoga and meditation as the medicine of the future, and wholeheartedly believes in its power to help people of any age, ability, and state of health to find moments of rest, relaxation, and healing.
